My research involves using machine learning to model rat phenotypes (blood pressure, post-ischemic infarct size, proteinuria) given both genetic and phenotype data. In particular, we worked with consomic rat strains to see if models built with both genetic and phenotype features had better prediction abilities than those built with phenotype features alone. This work is in collaboration with David Page and with Howard Jacob of the Medical College of Wisconsin.
