Creating textual explanations of numerical data from gene-chip experiments by combining additional textual resources with gene-chip data. Using a training set of microarray expression data and the textual information about proteins in order to generate rules that can accurately identify genes that are up or down regulated. Using these rules to give a descriptive interpretation to the microarray data.
